Change NHS: Help build a health service fit for the future
While the LSC VCFSE Alliance would like to have coordinated a response across Lancashire and South Cumbria, our resources won’t allow us to do it justice – especially across such a large area. However, if your organisation is interested in hosting a workshop locally with your community, or within your organisation, you can find all the necessary information and relevant links provided below.
Deadline: Feedback from Workshop in a Box must be shared by 5pm on 14th February at the latest.
Community Engagement
The VCFSE Alliance is calling on all voluntary organisations across our networks to get involved in the conversation about the future of the NHS to ensure every voice is heard.
To support this, we're sharing the NHS 'Workshop in a BOX' - a practical resource to help you engage with your communities. Your input will play a crucial role in shaping the 10-Year Health Plan, ensuring the NHS is ready to meet the needs of the future.
What the Workshop in a Box is
A Workshop in a Box is everything you need to engage a group of people in a conversation about the 10 year plan for health. A facilitator briefing guide, a set of slides to help you run the workshop and a feedback form to share back what you hear.
Running your workshop:
To help you deliver the Workshop in a Box we have prepared a facilitator briefing guide. You can download and print this guide from the facilitator briefing page.
As well as providing a facilitator briefing document, we will be running a series of online briefing sessions to provide support to anyone involved in running a workshop. These will commence on 20th November 2024 and run into mid-January 2025. You can see details of the sessions scheduled so far and sign up to attend a session via the workshop briefings page. The list will be updated with more sessions over the coming weeks.
Workshop materials:
All the content you need to share with participants during your workshop is available to download as a PowerPoint file via the workshop slides page. You should adapt the materials to meet the needs of the people you are talking to and the size and format of your event.
Accessibility:
An Easy Read and BSL version of the Workshop in a BOX slides are available below.

Why the VCFSE voice is needed?
The VCFSE sector is a key partner in shaping and delivering health and care services. Your input is crucial not least because:
- Real-life insights: Local VCFSE organisations work closely with people who often face significant challenges to their health and wellbeing. Their knowledge of issues like housing, employment, social isolation, and access to healthy food offers essential context for creating fair and effective health care strategies.
- Promoting prevention and inclusion: As the NHS shifts care from hospitals to communities and focuses more on prevention, the VCFSE sector plays a vital role in tackling health inequalities and promoting wellbeing through innovative approaches.
- Closing the digital gap: The NHS is prioritising inclusive digital transformation, and the VCFSE sector's involvement ensures solutions are designed with real-world experiences in mind, while also making sure non-digital options are available for those who need them.
- Amplifying diverse voices: The sector advocates for underrepresented groups, ensuring their needs and perspectives are considered in healthcare planning, reducing inequalities, and promoting fairness.
By taking part in engagement with Change NHS, you'll help shape the NHS's future plans, making sure they are rooted in the experiences and needs of our diverse communities.
Sharing your data:
Following each workshop, submit feedback from your session within 5 working days of the workshop taking place, if you wish it to be considered by the central 10 Year Health Plan process. To make this process as simple as possible there is a feedback form available via the workshop feedback form page.
Feedback from Workshop in a Box must be shared by 5pm on 14th February at the latest.
