Male Suicide Prevention Campaign

Date posted: 28th January 2025

NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board are currently developing a Male Suicide Prevention campaign and wanted to give people the opportunity to shape the look of the campaign. The campaign needs to influence how we get men to access support and advise when they need it. The ICB want the campaign material to capture people’s interest, prompt them to take a look at the Staying Alive app and create a tagline that people will remember.

The ICB are looking particularly for Males 40-54 living or working in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area who would be willing to give them a few minutes of their time by completing the survey below.

In the survey people will be able to view and give their opinion on the draft concepts and posters, and answer questions about what they feel would encourage men to seek support. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Any input into the development of the Male Suicide prevention campaign would be gratefully received.

However, should you have any queries please contact Helen Parry, Suicide Prevention Lead at Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB at Helen.Parry17@nhs.net or email the ICB communications team at lscicb.communications@nhs.net.

Deadline: Monday 3rd February 2025.

"Suicide is a significant worldwide public health concern with 6,069 suicides in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2023 alone.  A striking 4832 of these suicides were by males (75.3%) further confirming the longstanding gender imbalance evident in UK suicide rates. Suicide is the single biggest killer of men aged under 49 years in the UK. This is a shocking statistic and raises questions about what is being done to deal with the issue.

The male suicide prevention campaign wants to look at how to get men to access support and advise them when they need it."
