Meet the Speakers:

My name is Sharon Arthur and I am the Team leader for our children and young people’s team at Harbour Support Services. Harbour is a specialist domestic abuse charity which has worked for 50 years to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. We offer a range of services which includes safe accommodation, children and young people’s services and also work with those causing harm to others. As a result of our work we have enabled victims to increase their safety, reduce the risks they are facing and in turn improve the quality of their lives. We have enabled children and young people to recover from their experiences of domestic abuse, see that they are not to blame and helped them to aspire for their future. We have also given those being abusive the tools and support they need to make changes in their lives which

will have a positive impact upon them, their families, and the wider community.

I began working at Harbour in 2019 supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse and In 2021 I trained in the respect young people’s program supporting families and young people in County Durham who were experiencing CAPVA. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area and In 2023 I became a RYPP/CAPVA ambassador and continue to work closely with partner agencies to support families who experience CAPVA in the areas in which we are commissioned.

My name is Amy Stewart and I have worked at Harbour since 2019. I originally worked with families residing in our refuge and safe accommodation and from 2021 I started working in our children and young people’s team supporting children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse.

I have also trained in the Respect Young Peoples program in 2022 and have worked with lots of families and young people who are experiencing CAPVA.

In 2023 I became Adolescent worker within the Stockton area in which I support young people impacted by domestic abuse, young people who are experiencing abuse in their own interpersonal relationships and young people who are using harm. I am also senior support worker within our children and young people’s team.
