Lancashire Health and Wellbeing Board
The Lancashire Health and Wellbeing Board is a forum for key leaders from the health and care system in Lancashire to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population and reduce health inequalities.
Board members work together to understand their local community’s needs, agree priorities and encourage commissioners to work in a more joined up way. As a result, patients and the public should experience more joined-up services from the NHS and their local council in the future.
It is the responsibility of the Health and Wellbeing Board to:
- Identify the priority health and wellbeing needs in our area (using the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment)
- Set priorities based on information gathered from across Lancashire
- Promote integrated commissioning and provision of services by encouraging partnership working
Membership, meetings and agendas
As Lancashire is made up of Lancashire County Council and twelve district councils it was agreed that three county councillors and three district council councillors should sit on the board. In addition, it was agreed that a representative from third sector Lancashire should sit on the board who represents and acts as a voice for voluntary, community and faith groups across the county.
